Asthma Remedies - Natural Remedies Can Work Well and There’s No Side Effects
By Shannon Pollock
If you or a member of your family are or one of the many people who suffer from asthma, whether it be occasionally or regularly, you have probably tried a number of different remedies to get through an attack. Or maybe you are one of those people who have a stash of inhalers to rely on. There is good news for those of you who are looking for a healthy and more natural approach to your asthma remedies.
What exactly is asthma? It is a kind of chronic lung condition in which the lungs or bronchi are inflamed and this affects the ability of air to enter and leave the lungs. When this occurs, is when breathing becomes difficult. People who suffer from asthma tend to have sensitive or hyper-responsive airways that are narrowed or obstructed when they become irritated making it very difficult for the air to be able to move in and out. Asthma remedies are a way to treat the inflammation that occurs, and allow the air to be able to move in and out of the pathways without becoming obstructed.
There are different causes of asthma that include:
* Lack of exercise
* Genetic factors
* Dietary changes
* Occupational exposure
* Environmental factors
There are some time-tested home treatments that are natural that can be used to treat asthma:
* Honey - honey is very beneficial in the treatment of asthma. When you are having an asthma attack, place a jar of honey under your nose for a few minutes. You can also add a teaspoon of honey to a glass of water and take that three times a day.
* Ginger tea - steam ginger tea with minced garlic cloves twice a day.
* Turmeric powder - a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of milk taken two to three times a day is especially beneficial on an empty stomach.
* Mustard oil - during an asthma attack mustard oil mixed with camphor can be massaged over the back.
* Boiling water - inhale the steam from boiling water mixed with caraway seeds.
* Radish, honey and lemon juice - blend together the radish, honey and lemon juice and mix for 20 minutes, cooking in a pan on low heat. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning.
* Licorice Root Tea - add to boiled water a half of teaspoon of licorice root tea. Let steep for 10 minutes, drain then drink.
* Spiegel seed - add one to two teaspoonfuls of Spiegel seed to warm water as a drink twice a day.
These are some effective natural health remedies that can be used to treat asthma. You may want to try different ones until you find the one that works best for you. Some people find certain ones work better than others, and depending on the asthma attacks that are experienced, you may find that one of these natural remedies works well for you.
